Container Rental vs Buying
Both options solve the same storage or space problem, but the right choice depends on how long you need the container and how your budget works.
When renting makes sense
Fixed-length construction projects, seasonal storage spikes, and situations where you're not yet sure how long you'll need the space. See our container rental page for current rates and terms.
When buying makes sense
Permanent storage, long-term site offices, or any case where you expect to use the container for years. Buying also makes sense if you plan to resell later, since used containers retain resale value.
Doing the maths
Compare the total rental cost over your expected project length against the purchase price minus likely resale value at the end. For projects under roughly a year, renting is usually cheaper. Beyond that, buying often wins.
A middle path
Many customers start by renting and convert to a purchase if the need turns out to be longer-term. We support switching from rental to purchase at any point.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I convert a rental into a purchase later?
Yes, if your rental need turns out to be long-term, we can work out a purchase price that accounts for rent already paid in many cases.
Is buying always cheaper in the long run?
Not always, it depends on how long you actually need the container and the resale value at the end. For short or uncertain timelines, renting often works out cheaper.
